My name is Frank Shablo and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Green River, Wyoming and and offering services statewide via telehealth. My primary modalities are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Reality Therapy, and specialize in helping those struggling with depression, anxiety, serious and persistent mental illness, and substance dependence.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies depending on the needs and goals of each client. Cognitive Behavioral, Reality and Solution Focused therapies are my most commonly used tools to produce positive outcomes.
My focus
As a rural counselor, I have had amazing opportunities to work with a range of client populations. At this time, we fight the battle in front of us, as such I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, marital issues, family issues, and substance dependence.
My communication style
I find the best approach to client communication is positive regard. Establishing a therapeutic relationship requires a warm and consistent temperament, active listening, and clearly expressing my understanding of my clients needs.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey of becoming a therapist started on a twisted path. After completing a Master’s degree in Political Science, I started working in a school district administrative office as a grant writer and program developer. I worked mostly with special education students and teachers and loved it. I took a job with Wyoming Vocational Rehabilitation, earned a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling, and worked as a Vocational Counselor, then I decided to pursue more licensing opportunities, and started working as an LPC. 17 year later. I am a counselor. My motivation at this point is my career is helping people through the challenges of life.
My goals for you
Setting goals requires a firm understanding of the problem, a conception of a way through the problem, and a reason to initiate change. I aid in the process of setting small goals, stepping toward better decision making, confidence and then achieving the desired change.
My first session with you
In a first session clients can expect a friendly reception, a thorough intake and time to build rapport. Getting to the heart of the matter requires developing openness and receptiveness.
